Fellowship

They devoted themselves to the apostle's teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.'
Acts 2: 42

When planning for the Holy Habit of Fellowship we brainstormed a lot of words related to fellowship. You will be finding out about many of them between now and Advent.

The Greek word, translated as fellowship, is koinonia, a word with richness and deep meaning. It describes a relationship and activity which is far deeper than brief chit-chat over tea/coffee and biscuits.

In Acts 2: 42-47 we see fellowship in the followers of Jesus sharing their lives with each other and the world around them. It is a practical expression of Christ-like love which draws people to Jesus: koinonia helps make more disciples.

Developing our fellowship individually and as a church.

We already meet one another at various times: coffee and tea after church, coffee mornings, the Day Centre, Enquire Within, choir, church weekend away, table tennis, the prayer partnering scheme, Messy Church.

Can we develop these opportunities into fellowship by getting to know each other at a deeper level, sharing where we are in our faith journey and praying for each other?

Thelma Holland was a faithful church member. As she waited for her turn to go forward for communion she would pray for people standing in the line: part of her way of creating fellowship in the church.
