Ministering the Message of Christ

Rosehill is a Primary School in Ashton. Our minister is the school chaplain - in this role she leads collective worship once a week, supports the teaching of RE, works with small groups of children alongside the Learning Mentor and offers pastoral support to the staff, children and parents.

Volunteer Programme
Some people help out in the class situation, hearing children read or working with groups. Others help staff to run lunchtime clubs such as crafts, knitting, and table tennis.

Rosehill also has a pen-pal scheme where members of the congregation write regularly to a child. The letters can be full of news from home, memories of childhood etc. Those who write to one another build up quite a rapport and there are opportunities to meet up at school.

The volunteer programme is closely monitored by the safeguarding procedures of  the school and the Methodist Church.

Working together
The school choir visits the church to take part in the Community Café Praise Services at Easter and Christmas. The pupils also get involved with special events, such as making scarecrows for the Mossley Scarecrow Festival. Some Circuit events, like Fun Days, Holiday Clubs or Circuit Meetings take place on school premises.
