Ministering the Message of Christ
The Church Council
This is the meeting that makes all the major decisions of the church. Members of the Council include the minister, the lay workers, secretary, treasurer, representatives from all the different church groups, stewards and lay members. The last two sets of people are elected by the congregation at the Annual Church Meeting.
The Council meets three times a year normally and at other times if necessary. Any member of the congregation can ask a member of the Council to raise an issue.
The Council is designed to be a broad-based group drawn from across the whole church - inclusive not exclusive!
Church Stewards
The stewards make sure the preacher has everything wanted before and during the service. This includes making contact midweek, passing on information, checking equipment is ready for use and praying with the preacher before the start of worship.
The Leadership Team
This team is made up of people who have leadership roles in all areas of church life, spiritual, pastoral, financial and administrative. The team meet once every three months to discuss all aspects of church life, both practical issues and ways to move forward as a church. The team recommendations are brought to the Church Council.
